Ballet and Monster Trucks
// April 1st, 2008 // Design
This is something I mocked up really quickly upon receiving the new brand image for the National Ballet of Canada’s Mad Hot Ballet II fundraiser. Seeing principal dancer Guillaume Côté leaping out of a fireball Evil Knievel-style just made me think of monster trucks, so I just had to follow up on the inspiration.

More after the jump…
Here’s the e-mail that accompanied the image when we sent it over to the NBoC:
When we saw the new Mad Hot Ballet image, it totally inspired us to come up with some ideas for a banner ad campaign, possibly even a new design for the 09-10 season.
We think the NBoC is missing out on a huge potential audience, and this campaign will speak to these new opportunities. An idea like this could take ballet in a whole new direction!
I can see the quotes now…
“It’s a tour de force!” - Toronto Star
“Heather Ogden and Dale “Hutch” Hutchison deliver a true Power de Deux” - National Post
“I’ve never been more drunk in my life!” - DANCE International
Cheers,
Stephen
PS - Don’t fire us.
PS - actually, now that I look at the image again, it would also look right at home in a James Bond opening sequence.
